  1. 1. There are many kinds of pharmacies, about 60 career paths. They work in retail, hospitals, home health, industry, insurance, etc. 2. The average pharmacist salary is about $100k 3. Most pharmacy colleges require that you to take public speaking as an undergraduate in college. Only the 6 year schools care about what you take in high school.
  2. 1) Retail (Walgreen's, Sav-On, Rite-aid etc.) and independent is still the largest employer of pharmacists. This is what almost everybody thinks of when they think 'pharmacist'. But large numbers of pharmacist work in hospitals. The last hospital I worked in was a 'community' hospital and we had 6 FTE's of pharmacists. Large research hospitals have pharmacists in double-digit quantities. I've also worked in home-health care. Which employs quite a few. There is also academia, research, military, government,. Salaries, within a certain geographic area, are usually pretty close. Where I live the going rate is in the 50+ per hour range. What should you take in high school? All the hard-science courses you can. All the math you can. All the English you can with a writing emphasis. Being fluent in Spanish would be a big plus depending on where you live. And yes.........you'll have to get over your fear of speaking in public. Depending on where you work, it can be a big part of the job. One more thing, abandon the 'l33tspeak' pronto!
