How does one go about getting into pharmacy school and becoming a pharmacist? I plan on attending the University of Washington this fall, and I want to major in either biochemistry or bioengineering as a pre-med. If I can not get into medical school, pharmacy is another career I am interested in for its heavy use of chemistry and biology. I was just wondering what you have to do to become a pharmacist in the United States. Thanks for the help!
Out of high school pharmacy school programs? Hi, I am currently a high school senior and I want to apply to as many 6 year, out-of-high school pharmacy programs as I can. Can anyone give me a complete list? Other programs such as UIC's GPPA, and 2 + 4 year schools will also be helpful. Thanks!
How helpful was undergraduate work in pharmacy school? Ill be entering college in the fall as a freshman and I want to become a pharmacist. I'm aware that it usually takes 2yrs to complete the prerequisite for pharmacy school so I was wondering, should I complete 2-3yrs of undergraduate work or the full 4? How useful is your undergraduate knowledge in pharmacy school? Would pharmacy school be harder with only 2-3yrs of undergraduate work as oppose to 4? How useful was your undergraduate knowledge? How many yrs did you complete?
Will I still get into pharmacy school since I withdrawal from two of my classes? I came into a situation where I had to withdrawal from two of my classes. I am a pre-med major planning on switching my major to pharmacy. I am worried that I won't get into pharmacy school or even med-school because of this. Will it hurt my chances to get into pharmacy school or med school since I dropped these two classes? Oh and it was Biology and Biology Lab and I'm a sophomore in college.
What's the easiest pharmacy school to get into? Hi, I really want to get into a pharmacy school. I currently have about a 3.3 and have noticed that the average gpa for schools is higher and usually about 15% of admits get accepted, if even that many. What is the easiest pharmacy school to get into?
Could i get into a pharmacy school starting off at a community college? Ok so i wanted to go to pharmacy school but i did not have the money. And no job or anything right now so i couldnt get a loan (my parents wouldnt help me out). I just got out of high school and the only thing i can moderatly afford is community college. So can i start at a community college and go into a pharmacy program. How would i go about doing that and how long would it take?
What kind of degree should I get before applying to Pharmacy School? Ok so I would like to go to Pharmacy school, to go into hospital/clinical pharmacy. Right now I'm looking at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. I have talked to a few people and they said trying to do pre-pharm and then getting into pharm school is extremely difficult. So I was wondering what type of undergrad degree I should look into getting? What kind of college classes should I be taking? Are there any Doctor of Pharmacy degrees that can help me out please? =] thanks
Is it better to get a bachelors before applying to pharmacy school? I am planning to get a BS in biochemistry, but I also want to get a PharmD. Would it be easier to get in to pharmacy school with a BS in biochem? Also if you get a BS in Biochem would you have to take the prepharm classes? I am planning to go to The University Of Arizona. Thanks!
What is one to expect during pharmacy school? What is one to expect from the time that he takes the PCAT and then upon finishing pharmacy school? What is the best preparation for the PCAT? Would taking a year of classes be the best idea for someone graduating with a non-biology or medical sciences degree? What is the work load like? When would be the best year in that process to get married? Please, only serious answers. Do not reply with things like "Hard" and that be your only answer, I really would like to know what is involved with this major life decision. Thanks!
Is there any hope in getting pharmacy school with bad grades? Currently I am a sophomore with a gpa of 2.7. I got an A+ on biology, c in chemistry 1 B- in Chemistry 2 and a B- in Organic one and a C in Calculus. and fair grades in other classes. WOuld retaking classes be a good idea. Any suggestion on any classes that i should take that would strengthen my pharmacy application in about two years when i apply would be helpful. . I work at walgreens and i have another job at a restuarant and i am part of several clubs in college. I am planning of doing some volunteering in the pharmacy. If you know someone who have been in my situation and has gotten in pharmacy school please let me know. I need all the advice and suggestions i can get. I am not the smartest tool in the shed by i am trying my best to get a 3.5 or above gpa this semester.
How hard is it to get into pharmacy school? I know that a high GPA and PCAT scores are considered one of the most important factors during the admission process. Although my GPA is a 3.5, I don't have any personal experience working with a pharmacist. Do you think that can be overlooked when being considered for admission in pharmacy school or is experience necessary?
Is it more expensive to go to pharmacy school or medical school? I was thinking about maybe becoming a doctor, but they have to go to medical school, and that is expenive. But is going to pharmacy school even more expensive? If I were a pharmacist tech, would the hospital I work at maybe help pay tuition so I could become a pharamcist? I want to get into the medical field, but it is expensive, and I'd have to pay a lot of money that I don't know how I'd get.
How many years of pharmacy school would I have to take? I'm currently a high school senior and plan on attending a 4 year college this fall. I want to major in Chemistry and then, after graduating from my college, transfer to another college's school of pharmacy. (Please don't tell me to bypass my 4 year college as I know for a fact I'm going and refuse to not go there, haha.) Added to the 4 years I'll already be attending, how many more years can I expect in order to become a pharmacist?
Do I still have a reasonable chance of getting into pharmacy school? I got a D in my first semester of Organic Chemistry. I am planning on retaking it this semester because I need to also take organic II but organic I is a prerequisite. I'm freaking out right now because I know pharmacy school applicants are competitive and me making a D does not look so good. It's actually completely horrible. Help me!
What major should I take to become a pharmacist if my school doesn't offer a pre-pharmacy program? I'm a senior at high school and I'm considering being a pharmacist as a career but I'm still confused about what I need to do in terms of pre-pharmacy education. I basically know that you have to take atleast two years of pre-pharmacy study and four years of graduate study. Is it necessary to attend a school that offers a pre-pharmacy program in order to continue at a graduate school? Is it recomended? What major should I take if a school doesn't offer a pre-pharmacy program? Is it harder to get into a graduate pharmacy school if you don't take a pre-pharmacy program? What schools do you recommend that are in california for pre-pharmacy study?
What is the best pharmacy school to attend in NY or out of state? I heard there might be accelerated programs 3yrs...after changing carrer choices and finishing major in science...no grad school likes to see career option changes in middle of the path. Now its very hard to get in; even though I graduated with honors. from dental to pharmacy....what should I do?
Is it normal to feel depressed in Pharmacy School? To all pharmacists, I absolutely hate Pharmacy School. I was kind of forced into it by my parents. Is it NORMAL to feel this depressed in school??? I can't tell. Sometimes it gets so depressing I don't have the energy to study. Does anyone else feel this way in med school pharm school dentistry? Is this a sign that I won't like the profession at all?
What is the best pharmacy school? What is the best college for prereqs? I've been a pharmacy tech for a few years and I know quite a bit of the field. Even the Pharmacists ask me questions!! I'm ready to step it up--if there's any pharmacists here, where do you suggest I go to school? How long will it take me? How much will it cost? How much will I make?
What will help me get into Pharmacy school? I live in Florida and there are only 4 pharmacy schools here. Two of them are private (NSU,PBAU). FAMU is another options and desperately do NOT want to go there and my only other option is UF which I really WANT to go to, but is EXTREMEMLY competitive- ecspecially there pharmacy school. Please suggest anything that would increase my chances of getting into their pharmacy college. ANYTHING.
What are my chances of getting into pharmacy school? I'm looking to go to the University of Minnesota Pharmacy School - I have about a 3.6 PharmCAS GPA (going up slowly since all of my hard classes are done). I have 17-18 credit semesters since I started freshman year (7-10 credits every summer) and will be graduating with a Biology/Society/Environment specialty degree with heavy science emphasis in 3 years instead of 4. I am taking the PCAT this Saturday, and starting to volunteer in a hospital pharmacy in about 2 weeks. I will be applying this fall, but I'm just curious if anyone has any experience with this and can tell me other things I can do. I'm concerned that my GPA is too low, I don't have enough experience or community service, and I'll know about my PCAT after I take it. Any thoughts???? Thanks!
Extracurricular Activities help on Application on Applying to Pharmacy School? I did not get accepted into my school's six year program for Pharmacy. I want to get into my school's Doctoral of Pharmacy Program after my Sophmore year. I was wondering..if I joined many extracurricular activities on campus would it help on my application? How do i get into pharmacy school? So im interested in pharmacy but dont really know how to get in.Apparently it takes 6 years to become one.And i've been told that all you need is to have the prerequisites for pharmacy school and then you get in.My question is supposing I am in college right now pursuing a degree in pharmacy, does that mean i'll have to finish 4years of college then apply to pharmacy school for 6 more years or will i go to pharmacy school for only 2 years?

What are good things to do for my resume If I want to go to Pharmacy School? I am a biology major as of now and have one year left. I am a bit worried about what I am going to do and I hate worrying- "worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but gets you nowhere". So because I am highly against worrying I want to Take action and start applying for jobs, internships, or voluteering at various places. I am just hoping that someone who has been accpeted to Pharmacy school could tell me what they did to prepare or even get in! I have excellent grades and all the pre-reqs, so I just want to know what would make my application stand out even with those attributes. Thank you so much!

Do pharmacy school admissions consider what university you went to as an undergrad? For example, if two people have the same credentials but one went to Stanford and the other went to an average state school for undergrad, will the pharmacy school prefer to take the student who went to Stanford? Another example is if a student's GPA was slightly lower because the curve is tougher at a competitive undergraduate school? Will the pharmacy school take this into consideration? Or does it not make any difference to the people at pharmacy school admissions? Thanks a lot!

If anyone's been through a pharmacy school interview (or knows someone who has) and could give me any tips on what to expect (interview process in general, questions asked, etc.) that would be extremely helpful! thanks!

It's hard for me to work at school seeing as my parents can not help me at all with homework or anything for that matter. Everything I did was by me and only me. Yes, my parents does not know english and all that, so I had to rely on myself to do everything. I'm not sure if I can make it into Pharmacy school which is what I really want to do.
